A DESTINATION WEDDING AT VIZCAYA MUSEUM, MIAMI / Kristina & Marcel

There is so much to say about this wedding weekend in Miami with Kristina and Marcel.

Everything kicked off with a beautiful rehearsal dinner in downtown Miami, full of their closest loved ones and friends that came from all over to celebrate. Drinks were poured, conversation was had, and speeches were given. It was an incredible way to kick off the weekend of events, and we absolutely loved being able to document it! It was quintessential Miami vibe — with vibrant colors, cuban cuisine, at a venue overlooking the water. Marcel’s dad’s speech had everyone shedding tears. We're so grateful to be invited into evenings like these.

The day of the wedding, we started off at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. I always love the beginning of a wedding day because it’s a bit hectic, full of nerves and excitement. Kristina got ready with all of her girls in striped silk pjs, and they were overly giddy with her. We quickly moved on to many different locations at the hotel, shooting the first look and some couple portraits to take advantage of the beautiful grounds. They then got in a vintage car and headed off to their venue, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

Cam and I got to do a site visit a couple of days before the wedding, and to say the grounds are stunning would be an understatement. Vizcaya Museum is absolutely massive, with incredible beautiful interiors inside the museum, and unreal garden grounds full of florals and unique textures. It was overwhelming knowing we would need to narrow down the grounds for shots, but it was the perfect playground.

Closest family and friends started piling into the venue to kick off the pre-ceremony family photos. As more guests started arriving, there were cocktails served with popcorn to keep everyone entertained and anticipating. The ceremony itself sits under beautiful ancient trees, and the light poured in perfectly. Kristina and Marcel were married by her brother, which was incredibly emotional and special to witness.

We spent time after the ceremony shooting more portraits before heading into cocktail hour. This happened on the terrace of the museum, and consisted of ice louges, caviar, more cocktails, a phone guestbook, and sentimental speeches. It was a perfect time for the bride and groom to make their rounds and hug their people as the sun set.

Moving into the reception was led by a trumpet player through the gardens and into the reception space, under the tent. All candles were lit, tables ready, and champagne being poured. They even had a cigar roller on property, as well as coffee martinis to get the evening going. The buzz in the room is always so fun to be around, and these people knew how to party.

We left the day late at night just so full of gratitude for the entire weekend spent in Miami. We are so lucky to be able to travel all over in order to document love — it’s something we don’t take for granted or lightly. Such an honor to be a part of Kristina and Marcel’s story!

This is a long published blog, so strap in! It’s worth it.
